Dear Artists, Collectors, Galleries and Friends,
I am proud to announce the new Wood Art Alliance, formerly Collectors of Wood Art.
Thank you for your patience. After a long and arduous process through Covid and a few paths that didn’t work out, we are back in a new and revised state. We looked at many different avenues, studied our demographics and analyzed the field, and determined that the future of our organization should shift away from a collector based group to an art focused organization.
We feel the one thing missing in the wood art field is a collective alliance whose goal is to promote wood art to the public and help grow the entire field. From furniture makers to carvers, turners to sculptors, collectors to galleries and museums, we want to raise awareness and bring the wood art field to the level of glass, metal, ceramics and fiber. We want the public, decorators, designers, and collectors to have wood at the top of their list when purchasing craft art.
To accomplish this we have built a new website, created a new brand, and hired a social media director. Our goal is to collect content and through a targeted program share that content with the world.
Our new site has individual portfolios where our members can post their work. When they post new work we will share it on social media platforms including, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, email blasts and others. We will also collect information about upcoming shows and other wood art related events, post those on our front page, and disseminate that information through our social media.Â
Essentially we want to be the hub for wood art. When you google “wood art” we want to be the first site that appears. When a show has wood artists we want the world to know about it. When people visit galleries, we want wood art on display. When decorators are buying for their clients, we want wood art to be at the top of their mind.
We can’t succeed without all of you. Please join our alliance so we can keep wood art at the forefront of the craft and art world. Post your work, share your events with us, and tell us your stories. We will in turn promote your work and information with the world and together hopefully we can grow the field and bring wood art to the status it deserves.
We are currently offering an introductory membership fee of $50 to get us started. The site is up and running but needs content, so please join, upload photos and send us your events so we have content to share. We also have places for useful information and history, and we’d love for you to help us fill those holes.
You can find us at www.woodartalliance.org
We look forward to a long and successful partnership.
Sincerely,
John Beaver
